AtA hits not counting & cannons not working

I was flying a carrier defence mission and I noticed the following:

- Multiple AtA missles being fired at one time only registered one hit against the SU's in the target square even though the rolls were hits
- My plane's cannons could not target the SU's in the same (target) square.

I know the first point has been reported for AtG bombs, but I've not seen it reported for AtA.

Not a bug, each of your pilots only targets one enemy, so all the missiles you fire from one of your planes are fired at one enemy plane. Multiple hits just means that one plane got vaporized.

Were you at the same altitude?

I just tested it and works fine. You need to click on the graphic of the strike aircraft to target them, not the photo.

Also, even though the cannon shows both red and green arrows for hi/low altitude capability, you can only attack ground targets from low with a cannon (the high is AtA only).

Not a bug, each of your pilots only targets one enemy, so all the missiles you fire from one of your planes are fired at one enemy plane. Multiple hits just means that one plane got vaporized.

I'm not targetting bandits, I'm targetting the mission objective of 8 SU's.

Were you at the same altitude?.

The mission target planes don't appear to have an altitude - I was at high altitude at the time.

Well, I saw what I saw. I'll see if I can reproduce it and send you the saved game.

OK, I've just reproduced this problem with multiple AtAs only registering one hit from my original saved game - which files do you need and where do I send them?

Basically, even if you fire multiple missiles at an SU target, you can only score 1 hit, and destroy 1 plane at a time (per pilot).

Oh, OK, I get it now. I was thinking about all mission targets generically, but you're saying the ones that represent planes act like bandits in that you can only target one "hit" at a time - which is kind of obvious, now that I think of it that way. Thanks for clearing that up.

Not sure about the cannon-thing I mentioned in my OP though ... I'll check that again.

Isn't there some rule that you can't shoot cannons if you past your Stress Level limit? Could that be it? Because generally at stress 8-10 or so I've had situations where pilots can't attack at all (OUT i think its called)??

Yeah, Veldor, from what I've seen once your pilot has passed the last stress number (in the second row) he shows an OUT tag and won't fire. Feature. [:)]
