Assigning player photos

No problem assigning historical photos to actual players, however I have been unsuccessful with assigning photos to the fictional players. I have placed a number of the photos from Padres into the MODS/FACES/GENERIC folder, however after auto assigning all of the fictional players are still "faceless".
What am I screwing up?

I guess the only thing you have to do is to rename the photos.
I played a little around with the pics. Created a new GENERIC folder where I placed some real life player pics from the sixties & renamed them (e.g instead of Carl_Miller etc, 1,2,3 etc). By creating a fictional league I could assign those pics to the fictional players without any problems.

I believe that's right, generic photos need to be renamed with numbers.
