I'm not getting any bites on this in the support forum, so maybe some of the players that frequent the main forum can give me a hand:

I've messed around with my monitor resolution as well as the resolution options on the game menu, and the best I've gotten so far is the lowest-resolution flavor of the game running in a window that I am unable to maximize. Very little map real estate appears in the window, which is a bummer.

Is there a way to play the game in full-screen mode?

...and/or:

What do I need to do to get a window I can maximize?

The game always runs in a window. However, the latest versions support multiple resolutions. Which version are you currently running?

I'm running under the latest official patch (not the beta.) I've increased the resolution on my monitor a couple of notches past the lowest res. the game menu offers, but I don't get a screen that will maximize.

I originally thought the game changed the screen resolution which it does not.  Choose the game resolution setting that is closest to your desktop setting.  It may not be a perfect fit.  It is also designed for normal (96dpi) font.  If you have large (120dpi) font chosen it can mess it up also.  There is no maximize screen.
