Gothic Line unbalanced?

Just finished my first scenario, Gothic Line, as the Allies vs. normal AI. It seems to me at least that the Axis have no chance. The Allies just have way too much Arty and Air and the terrain doesn't seem to offer enough protection from that. Arty is just devastating. Just like real life.

Mud was a bigger problem than the Germans which is a cool touch. I used mud turns to consolidate my new territory and clear turns to press forward.

I'm going to flip it around and play the Axis next but I don't know how in the heck I can stop all of that Arty from chewing me up.

I love the way the units are color coded with their HQ btw. Nice touch. I like to give each group its own objective or sector which seems much more like real life than most games of this nature.

I think the AI has some difficulty with keeping entrenchment high (i.e not moving some units to much). Since production is limited in this scenario i would seriously consider playing any AI on AI+ or even AI++.

Or play it against a human, you might be surprised what the germans might still be up to :)

Yeah, that makes sense, seems like the AI was shifting around its units a bit too much. I guess that makes it more vulnerable to arty and air because its not entrenched. It does a halfway decent job of defending in the center but the Western part of the front in particular just melted away.

I'll try AI+ and AI++ to see if that helps.
