I created a new unit, created the research tree and all the different shells required. I had the required research wrong at first, I fixed it but game was already in progress. I still see the third level ( because I had originally done the tree wrong) and all 3 level 1-3 are buyable. I only researched to level 2.

Does changing the master file change a game in progress? Or must I start over?

No, changing the file only impacts a game you have not started.

Damn I am having fun in that one. Oh well.

I can not figure out why my new units are appearing at all levels on build. Level one, two and three appear available to be built and when you research the next one it does not switch production. They upgrade manually fine though.

What I did wrong initially was put the previous level unit as required research for the new level.

In the research tree, the level 2 unit must 'block' the lower level unit or you will be able to purchase both.

I do not see that setting, I looked at established trees and compared my settings to them and can not see a difference.
