GUys fianally got the game to run today. Started new game long full war starting in 1861 till end. Problem im having is I dont know how to get any HQ units so I can make a bunch of division. Would like to make at least 4 or five divisions so i can use up a few of the one stars you get around turn three. Thought the divisions would have from 3 to 4 infantry units plus 2 calvary and two of the cannons plus maybe a sharpshooter or a engineer unit with maybe a medic or two. Then put the divisions into corp should make a very strong corp dont you think. But have yet found out how i get any Hqs. if any one can tell me how i come by them and also where will they be located.

Also how come buell comes into the fight so late. All the books I read he was in command of the army of Ohio right from the outbreak I thought.

Is there a key that will let me see the armys I have already formed on the map. Also how do I get units from california to maryland where i need them right at the outset of the war. Think I have figured out how to get individual units into divisions when they dont have any affiliation. Just set them on the map then they will show up as tabs I can then drop them on the divisions I want . Does this sound right or not.

You don't need HQ units to build divisions since 1.05 IIRC.

To form a division, first select a general and press the ‘enable divisional command’ button. Then select the units and the general to be included in the division and click the “create division” special order. You can break down a division into its constituent units at any time and without any penalty. Important Note: There is only one kind of HQ in the game: The Army HQ. Forming corps or divisions don’t require HQs.

A Division cost 10 monetary units, 5 war supply, 1 conscript company. You need that in your pool for each one. Not what the projected total is, but the actual total. The general must also be active IIRC.

USA:
Early May 1861: 6 Divisions
Early June 1861: 12 Divisions
Early July 1861: 48 Divisions

CSA:
Early May 1861: 3 Divisions
Early June 1861: 6 Divisions
Early July 1861: 24 Divisions
