Area LOS display ?

I'm playing the Tempe historical scenario, and the Area LOS display acts strangely. It seems to crop the white-gray-black shading of the LOS tool near the second grid line it encounters (in other words, not more than 2km away from the selected point, the shading abruptly stops). This is the only encounter I've had with this phenomenon. Weather's fine, daylight, so forth - not a game play issue I don't believe, but I've got a direct fire infantry gun up on a hill, and it's log shows no "engaging enemy" entries, and I can't check whether it can "see" or not.

Weird indeed.
I tried to simulate it and I think I've got your los click spot duplicated, but it shows a different los visibility area.
What might cause this is a faulty map cache.
How to test/fix this :
1) Leave the game
2) go to the \maps folder of your COTA install
3) rename the file Tempe.AAM.cache to Temp-backup.AAM.cache - so you can restore it when something goes wrong
4) start the mapmaker tool - load the Tempe map - from the menu : select Map - Generate Map Cache Data - this should create a new Tempe.AAM.cache file - but it can take up to 10 minutes depending on the speed of your machine
5) When the above is done, try the los tool again.

I checked the same spot and it shows OK on my version of the map. Are you patched up to #2?
The date on my Tempe map is 10/2/2006.

Eddy, I dont think the map cache has anything to do with it. He should probably 'calculate terrain tables' after removing the 'read only' attribute on the map.

My Readme says version 3.0.126, June '06. The Readme file said original version.
I'm surprised, as I just bought & downloaded CotA last week (11/16/07). They don't sell the latest version?!?
Guess I need to grab the patch...

Franklin,
to be sure, you can always check the game version on the lower right corner of the game screen.

I'm surprised as well.
It looks like you have to download the latest patch, indeed.
Cheers,
JeF.

D/L'ed the patch. Now I just need a little quality time to myself, so that I can scream "MOVE ALREADY!!" at my monitor while little squares nudge around the screen to an explosion soundtrack. It's fun. Really. [:)]
