ECM supporting airstrike

How do you get a jamming/ECM support aircraft to "do its thing" to a target radar? Do they do it automatically or do they have to be part of a strike aimed at a target ship or base?
I've seen enemy symbols with a little yellow squiggle on them, can't find what that is in the manual (yet) maybe that = jammed?

In HCE, electronic warfare aircraft need to turn on their sensors to also activate their jamming systems. You do not need to be actually part of a strike group, but you should be in close proximity to them to provide jamming support, and of course you need to approach enemy radars within a certain distance to jam them.
I've seen enemy symbols with a little yellow squiggle on them, can't find what that is in the manual (yet) maybe that = jammed?
That lightning strike symbol is the indicator that they are feeling the effects of your jamming.
