I'm still on the fence about getting ANW - got CE and am having fun with it. Anyhow CE has one Soviet SAG with a Kirov and a couple Slava's and friends VS an Iowa SAG with a couple CG buddies and escorts. I'm just curious if this scenario has been re-done for Harpoon ANW. I'd be even more curious of the impression people have that have played both games (CE and ANW) with that same scenario and how the two game results compare.

The two games tend to differ in philosophy a fair bit despite obvious similarities.
This scenario is a pretty good example, and generally speaking the two games do not cross over at all well.
I don't think a similar scenario has been done to ANW, even to the original database. However you have to bear in mind that both HC and the Original scenarios to Harpoon 2/3 were built a long time ago.
The trouble with this scenario is we now know it could never have happened. To meet, both would have to be operating hopelessly out of area.
 
Because Harpoon Classic did not initially have separate facilities, most of the scenarios are relatively basic in nature. Facilities are limited to several air bases per side, with no reproduction of air defences or an air defence EW system of any sort. Thats also why most of the HC scenarios do not convert well to ANW. You'll see people refer to the increased detail involved with ANW, and thats partly what they mean.
 
To a point the limiting factor has now been removed, and HCCE can include separated facilities. I doubt there are so many scenarios that go into that level of detail though.
 
Generally speaking because of the difference in detail level ,the two aren't so compatible when it comes to scenario design. Although there have been attempts to rebuild HC scenarios in ANW, they simply don't work that well.

You could try out ANW with PlayersDB. The designers team managed to re-build already lots of HC-scenarios and they work fine. Objective is to present ALL original HC scenarios for use with ANW.[;)]

For my 2 cents I've found the AI in H3 can generally be convinced to use it units better than HC units.  What does that mean?  Well, often HC scenarios are designed to only have one particular side played by a human while the other side will have a helping hand in more platforms or whatnot to make a challenging fight. 
 
For H3 that suggests the AI can do a generally better idea of duking it out with units bmore alanced across the combatants.

Not sure IMHO is necessary if it is a statement of fact surely?
 
The point I was making is that I can think of few, if any HC scenarios with a properly modelled air defence network. This used to be due to the limitation on separating out facilities. HC scenarios therefore used to represent land defences with few air bases and that would be the limit.
 
With the limitation removed I assume it is now possible to more accurately model land based defences. I don't know which have been written along these lines as yet, perhaps someone could advise.
A recurring theme of the rebuilt ANW scenarios to the players database is exactly that, the land based radars and sam sites are lacking. As such an attack upon the UK, would not model the NADGE sites or any SAM sites.
 
I know for Baltic Bottleneck on Harpoon HQ the AD sites were added in, and I think a Baltic based scenario with those sites has been built by Rene? However the older scenarios were way less complex.

Owl,  I think the scen you refer to has been rebuilt by Herman for PlayersDB. I've not played it yet but you can be the first to write an AAR comparing the two scens once you get ANW for Xmas!
