Three Questions

Can't find these in the manual.

1. How do I turn off the music?

2. What does the star on the units mean (in detailed combat)?

3. On the weapon stats, what does the speed number mean? It ranges from 1 to 3. I'm assuming that many rounds is deducted from supply, but not sure.

1) In the Preferences Menu, pg.95

2) Represents units that are out of command, pg.186

3) Not sure about this. Where are you seeing the speed stat?

Thank you for the quick answer.

When you go to upgrade weapons for a brigade, the list comes up showing stats across the top: Name, Guns, money, support, upkeep, speed, charge protection, sharpshooter, and range. All the others are explained in the manual, but not speed.

I'm assuming the value of 1-3 indicates how many times they fire and reload in a round, and also how much supply (ammo) is used. But I could be wrong.

Can't say speed rings a bell, could you post a screenshot of where you're seeing this speed stat?

I think you're talking about the stat 'Quick', not speed (there is no such stat).
The stat 'Quick' refers to the weapons strength in quick-combat.
The higher the number the better.

Ah, yep that sounds likely - as Briny said, that's used for quick combat only.

Yes, that's the only possible explanation. If you plan never to fight a quick battle, that number's irrelevant. But since something like 90% of players at least occasionally use the quick battle option (or instant-resolve), it's worth paying attention to.

Yes, that's right: Quick, not speed. Sorry for the confusion. And thanks for the Quick answers. [;)]
