Game won't start.

I have recently purchased a new computer and I just installed the game into the new computerwith the latest patch. When the game starts the screen turns white, and the sound stutters. After the intro is over, which I never see because of the white screen, the game goes to the loading screen which eventually turns grey and freezes. I have a gateway GM5632E with windows vista with all of the latest updates, and a geforce 8500gt video card with direct x 10, and the latest drivers. I also have 3 gb of ram. (I think I just uploaded my direct x dialog file, but this info is here to help in case it didn't upload correctly.)

I would start by:
1. Checking to see if there are any newer video drivers on
www.nvidia.com
2. Making sure you're updated to the latest Flash and Shockwave from Macromedia
3. Making sure you are running FOF "as Administrator" and trying the compatibility settings to see if they help on your system

Thank you for the quick reply. I just updated the video drivers last night. I have installed the latest flash and shockwave programs. I also ran FOF as an adiminstrator. I still got the white screen and when I hit escape Vista said that the program was not responding, just as it did before.

Give the other compatibility settings a try as well and see if any of them help you out. I don't recall having any problems with FOF on Vista, but I'll give it another try on Monday when I'm in the office with the Vista test system.

I just tried every compatibility setting with the same results.

I just got it to work. I uninstalled, then reinstalled, added the patch like before, but when creating a desktop option I selected the choice to allow all users to have access, instead of just the current user. (I am the only user, but I figured to give it a shot.) I then selected Windows XP sevice pack 2 compatiblity mode, and now everything works perfectly. I sort of got these ideas when talking to a best buy geek squad manager about another problem I was having with this new computer. It basically boils down to Vista not liking programs that are not designated vista compatible. Anyways, I hate vista, but Matrix games is awesome.
Thanks for the help,
Scott

Glad you got it working.
(For the record, I now am doing my development on a Vista machine and have been running and testing FOF in Vista with no problems. Not to say that other Vista users might not have problems, but at least I can confirm that it is running on some Vista machines.)
