minor suggestion

Been playing for hours now - outstanding!

However, one little irritant...nothing tells me who DOW'd who during the diplomacy phase - that's bad enough - but then to find out that a country like Sweden became my Free State and I had no reinforcements due so just breezed through reinforcement!!?? That's a tragedy.

I think some sort of window should give run down of DOW's and surrenders as well as conquering. When playing the boardgame all of this is out in the open and players even haggle or taunt as to who will control a minor...

You should have been warned when trying to leave the reinf phase without placing Sweden's forces? Were you not?

I am working on some type of news event system.

Also...there are several significant things happening during diplomacy that get little to no fanfar at all. For example...WHEN A MAJOR POWER SURRENDERS!!! I have played France twice and had Prussia surrender to me in each game and didn't even know it. There ought to be a window pop-up that says MP XYZ has asked for terms...then you click either un/conditional...MP XYZ either accepts or not...if accepted then you play through the surrender pick process. The first I realized that Prussia had surrendered was when my land phase started and I saw that all my attacking forces had been redeployed to my territory.

In the last game I had pre-selected Prussia for 36month peace, Reperations (all) and 3 ceded provinces. The Diplomatic phase just blew through and never gave me the chance to pick provinces so it just assumed I didn't want any. I got the 36months and reperations but when I scrolled back through the log it just said "France declines provinces"...but I never saw a window that gave me a chance to pick any provinces.

All in all the whole MP surrender process needs major work. I mean there should be no way that a player doesn't realize that his opposing MP just surrendered unconditionally. There ought to be windows poping up...bells going...trumpets sounding...women wailing...or something other than a little scribble in the log-view box. [&:]

Coming in the next patch, there is now a message window that will warn players of any surrenders that took place during the current month’s diplomacy phase (similar to how DoWs are now announced). You will still need to check the status info window for the details of the surrender(s).

Game's designed for PBEM, and there are probably enough e-mail exchanges required that one should be leery of sending more.

Choice of provinces or minors to demand is configured on the same screen as you select whether or not you'll offer a conditional, and what terms you pick.  The provinces or minors you may select are in the right-most column.

The game will presently not warn you if you've listed fewer provinces / minors than you're asking for, and any territorial demands that are no longer valid will be silently dropped. so keep it updated as the situation changes.  Ditto, I suspect, for leader / corps / fleet removals.

Tater, you have to make the province choices BEFORE they surrender.  I leaned that the hard way too.  On the surrender page when you click cede 3, you then need to go to the far right column and pick the provinces you want.  It pays to write them down too, unless your memory is good or you don't mind flipping back and forth just to make sure you picked the right ones.

Thanks all for the pointers...

BUT (there is always one isn't there)...with all the other windows that are popped up...why not 1 or 2 for the surrender process? To me the predesignating just seems to short change one of the most significant and important and FUN aspects of the game...when you can drive that knife just a little deeper into the enemy's heart. The whole think just seems sort of..."oh, BTW, I surrendered"...I guess I find it just way to anticlimactic.

Another problem is the rules clearly state that a minor with fleets will retain those fleets for later placement, yet if you do not place them on the first turn it becomes a free state you lose them, and you can not place them on the first turn since you have not purchased any fleet containers.......

You should not have to buy those fleet counters. During the reinforcement phase (after declaring a FS), you should be able to place a fleet counter first and then fill it with the available ships.
