Patch 1.01: Timeframe/When???

I love this game, and are playing several pbem now - BUT, I am loathe to recommend purchase of this game to some friends of mine until the new patch comes out because there so many bugs that really need to be fixed for full enjoyment. And I dont want to start a new pbem with them until they are fixed.
Thus, I was wondering what the timeframe for the patch is so I have an idea of whether to get my friends to buy this game or not righ now, or hold off.
The reason is, with the current bugs, I know they wont like the game and will be turned off by it alot, and will never play again - versus getting them to buy it later when its more updated

Erik,
Patience, the holidays have put the “slows” on its inevitable release.

I totally understand about the Holidays - I just want a sense, are we talking weeks, months? I dont need a date, just a general timeframe would be nice, thats all

I hope this isn't the same "soon" as Aslan's "I call all times 'soon'".

We've got most of the fixes installed and we're just simply testing as much as we can for now. We'll be testing for the next few days and given there are not hick-ups then we should be able to submit to Matrix for an installation build close to the end of this week!
NOTE: I'm not sure of holiday schedules so this could go into next week before release.

Will the AI be improved ? I'd like to buy this game, but not with a braindead AI...

Complicated, intricate games do not have very effective AI, the reason? Because no one can make an AI think, all they can do is program a series of if this then that statements.

No, AI programming can be quite flexible. With fuzzy logic routines and randomness inserted into the statements, computer opponents can become challenging. Perhaps not as "brilliant" as some experienced human players, but certainly not braindead or totally incompetent. For a newbie, I've been impressed with the AI so far. As I learn more about the game and stop making stupid mistakes myself, the AIs initial weaknesses become more apparent to me. I expect with the planned improvements and enhancements the AI should continue to provide an enjoyable challenge. Not perfect, of course, but hopefully close enough. It would be interesting to hear more from Marshall about what he has done with the AI programming and where he sees it going.
Regarding the v1.01 patch, could we maybe see a list of what's been updated while we wait?
