GB/France peace terms

This has already been raised here, but I thought I'd post to the support forum:

tm.asp?m=1652309

In the original EiA game, the optional rule that made GB and France start at war also meant that GB and France could only come to peace under certain terms, which required an unconditional surrender from one or the other. It doesn't appear to have been done that way in EiANW.

This just feels wrong to me -- the optional rule is picked up in most gaming groups with GB and France staying at war through most of the game unless one or the other is forced into an unconditional surrender. Can this please be added back as an option in EiANW?

Are you talking for hot-seat, pbem, etc?
How important is this?
Can both players GBR and FR agree to not check the offer conditional check boxes?

I have to agree Del. Before the Game Britain and France should decide if they are going to start at war and if so are they going to do Unconditional or not. If they decide not to start at war they should Lapse first diplomatic phase.

I don't think it mattters when playing the AI Marshal, only in Hotseat or PBEM, but maybe later we could have an option to put them not at war in the beginning? In the mean time it would have to be house ruled in each individual game.

Much like the crossing arrow I prefer they start at war but I have played it both ways. Sucks to be anyone else if Britain and France ally but sometimes that is the game you play.

And of course here I am drawing up my options for a PBEM I want to get rolling after the New Year and I see we can disable Fr4ance and GB at War in options so NM.

I think this is critically important.

The entire politics of the period was defined by GB and France being at war, except during one uneasy truce and prior to Napoleon's surrenders in 1814 and 1815, and the game balance is defined by the war between these two major powers. As someone pointed out, it really sucks to be anyone else if FR and GB are allies.

In the EiA game the optional rule that required GB and France to start at war also restricted them from making informal & conditional peace. I think the same option should be applied in EiANW -- the two powers need to be restricted in the game from just going to informal peace and then allying against everyone else.
