Supply cut of Cities & City Value

Alright, I cut off a city and I hammer it for turns, attack and I basically end up firing Knives and Forks on the it with my Artillery to get it down to takeable, it's not coastal.. Why so hard? What sort of supply do cut off cities Provide to the units inside? Shouldn't they resist less, it's not like I heard of many sieges after 1900 without a Naval resupply...
Also Cities are assigned numbers next to them with values, I understand these represent Morale. Although in some Theatres this is tedious as many little cities are represented with a factor of 1 or a little more.. That makes them little more than itty bitty speedbumps. What is the value aside from being in your way of taking such objectives if any? Should you bypass these little Bumps or is it actually worth it somehow. As far as I can tell unless they've a factory or resource adjacent it's a waste of activations, though historically cities were rarely passed by in a Theatre, you didn't see a lot of Arms into enemy lines you saw more like beerguts... That was because how easy it is like at Kursk saliant of cutting off the head and eating the pie...
Anyway... regardless, I'd like to know one last fact if someone can relay to me, what morale hit does Losing a Ship do?

Cut off cities provide supply to units that can trace supply to them - the higher the rating of hte city the longer they can do this for. They lose some supply ability each turn until they are worthless.
There was at least 1 major seige on the eastern front - Premzyly took 100 or so days to surrender to the Russians in early 1915, having been isolated twice. I did a post on it hhere a few weeks ago with some deatils that you should be able to find with a search.
I'm not sure how much moral ships cost when sunk sorry.

Thankyou, I've noticed that the supply from a cutoff Hex is not like a city... I should've hotseated rather than bothered with your time but Hotseating can be tedious abit
I noticed so far, very little as far as damage to Morale via loss of Capitol ships. I'm not sure if I'm wrong, but as far as I can tell, it's rare to lose a ship completely, at least a DN, so it doesn't seem to matter too much
The game has some very very tough points... Serbia is a lot tougher than historical, OE is a lot weaker... Seems to be odd people steamroll OE so easy. OE did hold well against the Russians in the Mountains, and held well against the Amphibious disasters by the Western Entente Powers of France/Great Britian
So far as I can tell nations like Italy/Romania/etc... are hardcoded to enter. Does Diplomacy really matter? Can you truly delay their entry to your benefit, this is a point I'd rather not hotseat... A successful Diplomatic overrature is expensive to achieve. Just curious if it's worth the cost...
as far as I can tell this game has some really awesome features, some of the interface could be streamlined. I saw some of the work done by Modders on the map, so that is coming along nicely. Really unique too, to see the amount of People you kill every Impulse
I wouldn't mind to see some random scripted events, like the Belgian Atrocities done in the early part of the war, part of what earned the Germans a bad reputation. As the Germans believed firmly they were being sniped by French/Belgians behind the lines... SO many events that could scripted in... Perhaps optional on either side to add to history?

It's only when you loose the big squadrons of ships it matters and you shouldn't loose too many of those so it really isn't a big consideration.
Historically if the Entente had decided to concentrate their war effort against OE they would have fallen early there as well. Whatever the CP is doing with the initiative the Entente quite simply shouldn't have the surplus to launch an all out offensive against OE.
Entry of neutrals are indeed hardcoded but diplomacy can heavily influence entry. If the Entente use DP in America and CP doesn't then America will enter late 16'. Italy could be delayed/advanced up to half a year which would have a heavy impact on the game. I always use DP against both Italy and America because each full turn of production in the war alone is worth the investment.

I'd go further - diplomacy is vital - you cannot afford to let he other side have a free rein in it - the US in in mid 1916 or not at all, or Italy delayed until 1917, or delayed Bulgarian entry would all be major problems for one side or other.
The OE only folds if the TE puts a lot of resources against it....and if it does that then the CP should be able to do somethign elsewhere - eg in one game I have the Brits are up at the Tarsus mountains (ie they've advanced all the way up the east coast of the Med from Palestine through Syria).....but with those 4 or 5 corps and some activation points perhaps they could have prevented Italy from surrendering instead?
Russia has gone too....it spent a few activation points conquering such important citise as Kars......but the OE has them all back now the revolution has come so perhaps those troops and resources were not so well spent?
OE morale is down to "strong"...but the Tarsus mountains are now garrisoned with German and Austrian troops released by the surrender of Russia & Italy, so I can live with the losses!
Romania is still fighting but of course it won't last long....

Well influencing Bulgaria depends on the situation. Whether Germany gets those OE resources a couple of turns earlier or later is not critical. But major powers will gear up their production so thats a sound investment.
Furthermore America is the Caterpillar of the game. One stack of Yanks can mass a staggering 146 SP in open. Add assault troop training to that and....
I always find it worthwhile to deploy a British HQ in India and when the 2 corps in India has arrived to go for Basra and the raw material. Similarly the 2 raw material hexes in the Caucasus can be reached fairly easy with the Russians. Whether it is worthwhile to push on with what assets depend on the situation as SMK has stated.

Sounds like an uphill game SMK.
You are not quite bubbling of optimism [:D]

It was hard work KO-ing Russia and Italy by late 1916 & keeping an eye on whether hte Ottomans were going to collapse or not... so I'm just taking a bit of a rest over Christmas [:D]
