I am looking to play the European Diplomacy Game but as I've never played AT at PBM against another human I will probably suck but will have fun trying. I have had the game only 3 days and the AI is beating me on AI+ against 5 AI's. I did okay against 4 AI (easy level). Keep making silly mistakes when transferring troops to wrong units, running out of supplies and am very much still learning this massive game.

I am therefore looking for 8 other likeminded people to play the massive diplomacy game. It looks a great tense map from the AAR's posted. Allies can help each other if they are stuck. Players must have the most recent update v1.10 and be prepared to play 1 turn per day (one or two days off now and again not a problem but we just want to keep the game going) and not drop out. And of course you must have an E-Mail address.

So if you would like to join me the list below is the countries left. Take your pick to get the best countries first [:D]

Germany - Bulldogintheuk
Italy - Nim8or
Balkans - T_K
France - Haudrauf1962
Britain - Delyn Locksmiths
Russia - Slowhand
Turkey - Therockyfroggy
Spain - All5n
Scandinavia - GrumpyMel

These are also the players in turn order so Germany goes first, then Italy, then Balkans, you get the idea. Therefore Germany sends their file to Italy, Italy then sends their turn E-Mail to the Balkans player. Each player has their turn saves and quits, then sending their turn as an attachment. Let me know if your not sure how the you go - I go system works. Action cards are on. All countries start at War and can make peace with any other nation if that nation accepts. Feel free to PM other players to gain Alliances, form strategies and backstab if they want

Also you don't have to but some of you may wish to post any post turn moves screenshots on the AAR section. Just a thought as an incentive for other people to buy this game. This would be good if you are doing well but probably not so good if you are doing badly, as I noticed France has not posted any screenies on the current game going. I chose Germany and therefore may not last long with so many enemys at my door. Suppose I had better make some friends [:(]

I'm sure it will be great fun, that's the very best thing about AT in my opinion, large multiplayer games, with all the off board diplomacy that goes with it. Never played one yet, but really really looking forward.

I wouldn't mind giving Scandinavia a try. I haven't upgraded to v1.10 yet.... but I don't think that should be a problem by the time we start.

I've just had a quick look at the scenario. what options are we going to pick? 2 round breather? allow action cards? allow make peace? extended production?

Yeah, I just realised that I had to be Germany as I have to set up the game paramaters and thus must be the first player. No doubt to my regret! Germany would have been better for someone with more experience than me as having looked at the AARs Germany, France and the Baltics are the hardest to play as they are next to lots of players. [/align] [/align]Never mind, I like a challenge [X(][/align] [/align]I have tried all the settings and it seems that the best options are no unit density (there is just massive production at Capital which can make 300 rifles per go, bit too much I think, we would get all the research areas in just a few goes), yes to action cards (so people can make peace), yes to all at war at start (as we could have a long number of turns where nobody attacks anyone), yes to allow make peace. Hope these settings are okay. If anyone has played this before let me know if they know better.[/align]

I wouldn't mind starting with the 2 round breather option. That would give people a chance to setup some defence before things get crazy. As it is, it looks like some nations can get plowed before they even have a chance to move. However, I'm ok with anything really.... just looks like a fun scenerio.

I think the breather option would make it fairer too, give more precariously placed states the chance to forge alliances and give everyone a chance to even out production. but as has been said, anythings ok with me really, looks a lot of fun.

I'd be willing to take Russia or Turkey (either one), and I agree about the 2-round breather...that's a good idea.

I have tried this out, not actuall played a game but just see what this means. I belive with all nations at peace each would be too frightened to declare war upon one another. Also it would mean a lot of turns where nothing happens. With 9 players it is likely that each country only has a turn per week. If you think about it you get work, have your turn, the next player may not take their turn until the next day. Players 7-9 probably won't get their turn until a few days after the game starts. This game is going to take a lot of time to play me thinks. After each turn when you receive the file you should reply just to confirm receipt as the player sending the turn doesn't know that you have received it. Also, if you know you are going to be on holiday or unable to take your turn it maybe a good idea to let an Ally have your go for you in order not to hold up the game.
 
I am open to any suggestions about changing the rules. Before you make a rash decision however please test the scenario out for yourself just for a few turns just to get the feel of the action cards and units.

Before we stopped ours for christmas break, we were completing a round about every 2 days.

I'll take Turkey if that's still available...if not, anything.
