River Crossing Bug

Sorry if this has been reported before but it seems major.

Just started a PBEM game, playing as Prussia. My army started the game nestled safely behind the river in Kustrin.

2nd month of the game, war breaks out with France over the soverwignty of Hesse. Fine. Wishing to advance my army to crush an isolated French corps in Holstein, I discover I can't get there! The river is costing me an extra MP, even though there are no hostile corps on the other side... there are no hostile forces in Berlin which is my first move from Kustrin to Holstein.

I try mutliple combinations, sure enough no matter what I do, where I end up, or what path I take, I am being charged 1MP for the river.

This is surely a bug!

Is your winter land movement option enabled?

"Hesse is French!"

And yes, I believe that I rememeber that option being enabled...but I am busy conquering Holstein.

Winter movement is NOT on. But even if it were, why would I be able to move 3 space in one direction, and only 2 in another direction which across the river?

Why don't you send me the game and I'll look at it?

The game has since moved on to other phases, will that be a problem?

Marshall, I believe I've seen this problem, too. Also, it's not totally consistent in how it is applied. I haven't seen any occurrences where it allowed too much movement, but I've seen some places where the corps shouldn't have been slowed down, but were.

Any depots in your way? The computer guesses that you are going to stop and eat an enemy depot if it is in your path and it adjusts the highlighting in that direction accordingly.

I haven't paid attention, but I will from now on. Thanks for the tip.

No depots, in my case. I have the pbm files from those turns if they are useful? I am just not sure which files or how many to send.

Sure its no enemy corps present ?

page 60 in the manual about crossing rivers.
Crossing Rivers:
It costs an extra movement point to enter an area across a river, if that area contains an unbesieged enemy corps. There is no extra cost to move across a river if there is no unbesieged enemy corps counter(s) in the area.

On a side note, dont trust the paths the game is offering. Move 1 square at a time. The engine doesnt always chose the cheapest route.

Regards
Bresh

Soapy Frog:

If you can get your autosave land phase where this could be duplicated then that would help.
