WITP "AirForce OFF" button in Adml's Ed?

UV is very "mouse click per turn intensive"... in that, to complete a turn, you have to click the mouse button a heck of a lot of time...
A large part of that is to ground/fly your airplanes per weather conditions. I've often thought that if there was an "Off" button for your airfoce (which grounds all aircraft that turn), a heck of a lot of mouse-clicks would be saved... and when one turns the Airforce "on", the squadrons revert to their "pre-off" setting.
For example,
June 1, '42. Clear Weather. All aircraft in theater are on flight ops. Fighters on CAP at multiple altitude settings. Bombers on Naval Attack at various settings, etc. etc. etc.
June 2, '42. Thunderstorms. I want to ground all a/c. As it is, I have to click on each squadron and hit "training". If there was an "off" button, I'd click on the "off" button, and everything in the theater would be set to "training" or rest or whatever.
June 3, '42. Clear Weather. Theoretically, I click the 'ON' button, and all a/c revert to where they were set on June 1, '42.
Will WITP have a feature as such?

There is already an "air force off" button. Well two of them. Go into your land planes button and then press "stand down" and all landbased squadrons will stand down. Do the same for the ship based squadrons and you are done. All your planes are standing down.

Sweet thanks for the quick reply. This is the last straw holding me back from purchasing WITP!
With UV, I could only play for so long before my right pointer finger started hurting. This helps immensely!

I use this all the time. You can even sort by plane type and stand down just the bombers but leave your fighters on CAP.

And that doesn't even get into standing down your entire aerial force! You can stand them all down with I think just one command for the land forces and one for the navy (or maybe one also for the TF's), then you can go out there and figure out which few you want to fly, as opposed to going to every base and picking them out one-by-one.

Nope, sorry. Your previous settings will not be remembered. If you stand them all down, at some point you will have to go back through them all one by one to tell them all what to do.
You can set "all bombers in this hex" or "all F4F-4s at this base" simultaneously to the same identical mission, but that is it.

We have an OFF button ... two off buttons ... one for land ... one for sea (no need to separate deal with task forces) ... but no "ON" button.

It sure would be nice to be able to set orders for an entire plane type, I can make sure all my float planes and patrol a/c are doing naval search at the right altitude.

I have always thought that if there were thunderstorms that the aircraft in the affected sector would not launch anyway, so why stand them down? Am I incorrect in this? Or do they try and take off and suffer damage and rtb?

They may or may not take off - and may or may not take damage...lots of electronic dice are rolling for multiple factors in all this.

Just don't forget to turn them back on the next day...could be bad for the reception committee on airfields if you have them all standing down drinking coffee in the ready rooms after the weather clears.

I would never set orders by using the land or sea plane screens. However, it sure is nice to use these screens to control upgrades.

I guess I can draw two conclusions based on that answer: 1. It is probably a wise idea to stand-down my flights when weather is bad or severe, just to be safe. 2. It is probably an even wiser idea to pay the heck attention to what happens to the aircraft when they do or do not launch in bad weather and then make my own decision based on past results.[;)]
Sometimes one can get so lost in the details and technicalities that they overlook the obvious.

Holy cow this game's going to take forever.
I just got done playing around quite a bit and have sunk my teeth into the entire war campaign. It took my like 4 hours to plot my 1st turn! I hope it goes faster... I can't imaging playing for 40 hours, and it's only December 17th, '41.
On playing a full campaign "out of the box", well I played a lot of UV so big majority of the game mechanics didn't need learnin'. I also figure that any mistakes I make, or things I do wrong, would simulate a lot of early war mistakes.
Things that I had to learn are things like, "why can't I load troops from the PI to evac". Ok.. restricted commands, gotta use PP to unrestrict them.
I hope the turns go a little faster. I don't want to die of old age before I finish a game
And yes, I'm a micromanager... no theaters are on "computer control" for me. Ever.

The first turns take a loooooong time - for both sides - maybe more for the Japanese.
Some players report getting to 15 minute turns. But with fairly careful play my PBEM turns usually take 1-2 hours. I switched to 2 day turns last year and once I got used to the tactical differences I grew to like it more - and it has the advantage of halving the overall play time - for PBEM anyway. For AI play 2-day turns certainly won't slow things down - but might not halve it.

I wish I could do a first turn in 4 hours. In the beginning to took like 10-12. I have it down to about 6 now, but it is always a PROJECT.
2-day turns are the best if you want to make progress quicker than a snail...

Well of course, I always play "historical start" .. so first turn I just key in my password and send to my opponent ... now the second turn .. that is the problem ... !
[;)]
I've heard of a 20 hour "first" turn for Japanese ... that's probably the record. Since I play "historical" start only - I never really face the total redistribution and optimization of first turn - for non-historical start players. My "first" turn is probably only about 4 hours. After you've done it a few dozen times it will speed up!

I've just made my first turn in the scenario 15 this weekend. All-in-all, I think I needed a dozen hours for the planning and issuing the orders, including a look at every single unit.[X(]
