Resource Centers vs Factories

Why would someone ever build a resource center instead of a factory? In the WAW scenario, you can build factories for a cost of 60 PP and a resource center for a cost of 80 PP. But, the resource center only lets you produce supplies and PP. A factory produces supplies and PP plus units.

Basically, the factory is cheaper and it is able to produce more. Why in the world would you spend 20 more PP to build the resource center only to get less? I'm thinking that maybe the scenario designer made an error and the factory is the structure that should cost 80 PP while the resource center should only cost 60 PP. Is that the case, or am I missing something here?

Don't tell him to change it, I like it just fine like it is LOL.

I Talked with Tom about this and the resource center it not supposed to be able to be built at all. The next version will probably have it turned off.

You guys are obviously playing the Waw scenario so I have a question for you: Do you think the research happens too quickly? I've seen Rifle III before the attack on France.....

I'm thinking of changing the cost of PP or research to slow this done.... maybe 4X.... otherwise there are uber-armies before the invasion of Russia...

Ideas? Thoughts?

I agree on the research costs. They are not the usual steps of being multiples of some base number, but simply 20 PP more than the previous step. There should be more of a differentiation. Either restore the normal stepping or make the basic levels even more expensive - at least double what they are now.

Yeah that's why I thought of making the PP more expensive rather than changing the research values required. This way it would take longer to accumulate the same nuber of PP's.

So right now a PP costs 500 production. If I make that 2000 production, I figured that it would take roughly 4 times as long to get the research. If I multiply the PP's required for each research then the difference in levels become very large very quickly.....

Of course then I'd have to make factories cost 15 PP to have teh same 15 month pay back. Also maybe make units 0 PP and HQ's 1 PP...

Mhh, but the uber equipment would be available for both armies, or ?
I mean nobody has a disadvantage and depending on the strategy there is a lot to research.
I don´t think level III infantry is such a strange thing.
But it´s the same for increasing the research (PP) costs. Same for both, so i don´t really care about.

Yeah both side get Uber.

It's just a "feeling" thing for me. If you have all the most advanced stuff by 1941 then there's nothing to look forward to. Also all research didn't end in 1941 in the real war so it doesn't "feel" right. It's like getting jets by 1941..... what's next? All your scientists go home or pick up rifles.....

I will bump up the higher level R&D costs a bit.

I would like to see the resource center stay and have it produce more thus giving it a value to Brit for needed supplies
