error on startup

Hi - just picked this up via digital download. I can reach the game menu, but when I attempt to actually play, I get a series of "unhandled exception" errors and am forced to quit. Any suggestions?

That sounds very odd.
Could you give some more information on your system?
-RAM
-Operating System
-The exact message of the unhandled exception error

Hi Vic, Thanks for the quick response! I'll attach a DXDIAG file to this message. As for the actual error message - when I first click the PLAY button, I get the "Unhandled exception has occurred . . . and at the bottom of the error, "Font Arial does not support style Regular." If I click Continue at this point, I get another unhandled exception with a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" message. At this point, hitting Continue does nothing, and I'm eventually forced to quit.

Can someone please post the correct arial.ttf to use. I've tried 2, arial.ttf 290k 10/15/2005 (from CIV4) and arial.ttf 359k 07/17/2004 and neither one works. I still get 'AdvancedTactics.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close....' after hitting the play button.
OK, dug up my install disk and copied \I386\arial.tt_ to the C: drive, then expanded it (actually it may be on your C: drive in the I386 folder):
run/cmd:
cd \
expand arial.tt_ arial.ttf
and then went into windows/folder and deleted the arial.ttf from 2004 and installed the one from 2002, 305k.
reboot, same error.
YEA, I finally got it to work. Here's the steps I went through.
1. Replaced arial.ttf as stated above.
2. Rebooted to get the correct arial.ttf loaded.
3. Control panel/add or remove programs/Remove Advanced Tactics and Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
4. Install Advanced Tactics and .Net 2.0
I think you have to have the old arial.ttf loaded during the install.
These steps probably don't have to be in order, you could probably remove AT first, and I'm not sure you have to redo .Net, but this is the process I used.
Now, see ya later while I get to the tutorial. I hope playing the game is not going to be anti-climatic!
