Trouble running

Hey Gents,

I am having trouble running the game.

I am on an 800 mhz PIII with 256 ram. TNT2 video card, running Windows2000 (upgraded over windows98).

I get the opening video just fine. However after that I get a black screen and then it dumps me to the desktop even though there is an instantace of the game running in the taskbar. Whenever I click on it, it goes to a black screen and then again back to the desktop.

This thing work on 2000? And if so what do I need to do to get it to run?

What command do you use to start the game, Panzer Mayer?

The Start.bat could be the problem. Why not try using mech.exe therefore bypassing the intro.exe? Others have said this works.

Go to the SPWAW shortcut and change the command to start the game. That should work for you.

In version 2.0 you won't have that problem. There will be a new start command, SPWAW.exe that will eliminate this difficulty.

No luck there Wild Bill.

I was running the .bat file and switched to the mech.exe file. Now I get nothing at all.

If you have nothing else to offer I just guess I will wait till version 2.0 comes out and see if that resolves the issue for me.

Hi Panzer '88' Meyer,

I had the exact same thing happen with me using Win98. Sometimes got a Direct Draw error too, but usually just as you described it. I read a solution by someone here on the board that works for me: Create a shortcut to "intro.exe", put it on your desktop and use this to start the game. Even though it's called "intro.exe" it goes right by the video intro (which is probably the cause of these type of errors).

Good luck & let us know if it works!

Bondy is quite right, I got the file names mixed up. Sorry. But version 2.0 is peeking around the corner so either way is good.
