I know the 1.01 patch is not intended to be a major fix for the AI. But has the AI improved at all with the patch? Thanks.

There are still some serious AI issues.
In the one game I have played as Turkey, I quickly ended up at war with everyone major power on the board as I worked on building the ottoman empire.

However, nobody ever crossed my borders.

One of the fixes in the release notes was:

* AI: Need to pay more attention to MPs strategic value when DOWing (Prussia DOWs GBR way too much)

.. however in every game vs the AI I've played with 1.01 so far, Prussia has DOWed GBR on the first turn. So if anything it's gotten worse.

I've also seen the British AI DOW Prussia in Jan. 1805, which is a bit counterproductive.   Hey, give me a reason to align with France, why not...

I suspect that some of the bugs that were fixed also affected the AI's "intelligence", because it now does a few things better (like, blockading ALL of France's fleets, instead of just the ones without Napoleon sitting, waiting for his trip to London). They still do the "single corps" thing, but only until they are totally destroyed. Then, they'll come at you with all of their corps at once. The only problem is that all of their leaders were captured months before, so their end modifier is still -1.

In July 1805, France surrendered to France in my game!

Maybe not? I was Russia advancing to Brunn with a cav corps on my south flank. Austria AI just attacked it with Mack and three corps. Surprised me, but didn't do any harm as I withdrew from the battle. But still, afterwards I was thinking "The AI just attacked me with a 3 corps stack!" [8D]

Do you share my view that the AI for Prussia with regards to corp movement and utilization always seem to be better and more aggressive than any other major power or is this just a coincident in my games?

Yes, they certainly seem to be a tougher opponent than France.

This is the 1870 scenario perhaps? :)

what are the major flaws with AI?

1) The AI has no sense of value relative to it's units. I see AI MP's flinging lone cav, arty and/or guard corp all over the place where they can be isolated and eliminated.

2) The AI MP's use way, WAY to much militia in their corp. Even with Prussia being agressive I notice that their corp are mostly packed with militia, 40-60% usually...with NO cav. Which brings up another question...what are the AI MP's doing with their resources? They certainly aren't investing in troops.

3) No sense of value for DOW's...

4) No ability to build usuable supply chains...

5) AI's never attempt to disrupt supply chains...even the Russian with the cossacks never makes any attempt to interupt supply chains. This also falls under the umbrella of no ability to take advantage of internal lines of communication & supply. With an MP like Russia this is their main defense.

6) Most of the above applies to naval actions as well. As the Turk I was able to eliminate the whole Spanish navy...because the Spain AI would send his navay at me 5-10 ships at a time.

There is a lot more...
