Grozny weirdness

Playing as France (EiANW 1.0), with a far-flung colony in the Caucasus. Created garrisons (regular French infantry, placed via depots) in various cities. When war with Russia started, I began to notice odd things going on in Grozny.
The garrison there, although it was placed as French infantry, and shows up that way on the map counter, is labelled in the info box as "French-CTRL" as if it were minor infantry(?) and in battle seems to have a morale of 2.0 (like the Persians, maybe, of which there are some corps in the area--but they were not the source of the garrison).
In the land combat phase, if I choose "attack the besiegers", no siege combat takes place. Instead I get a weird message--something like "Grozny depot destroyed". (There was no depot there.)
These things you should be able to see in the file I'm attaching. Another weird thing which I saw there before, but didn't save, unfortunately, because I went back and replayed the phase to see if I had misunderstood something and so ended up overwriting it, is the infantry in that garrison--and I'm still not sure what sequence of events caused this--can get suddenly repatriated to Germany (Breslau, I think).
Anyway, definitely weird things going on in Chechnya....
