Long term project, big departure.

Right, I'm going to work on a new scenario, It will give me something to do as I try and get to grips with the editor. I'm going to change everything. Make it tactical (one battlefield, one battle) and fantasy style (elves, orcs etc).
I think first up I'll just set a battle. But then I was thinking of allowing players 5 turns or something to build whatever army they want. I also though I could include magic with event cards. Anybody have any other ideas to let me muck about with?

If you want to do that I suggest you use cards for army choice/setup, with the players being given a number of Prod points at start through events.
So the players will effectively "buy" their armies by selecting the cards - you can make them one-use or not to set limits on numbers (say oly one Dragon per side). [;)]

That's a much better idea, thanks.

Remember though, that the AI can't handle cards. You'll need to make some crorresponding events (maybe randomize them) for when AI is playing one or more sides.

Ah, that's what I just asked in another thread, I feared that might be the case. Maybe a AI variant where we have 5 turns of army building then.
Does anybody have any counter graphics I might use. I'm going to start with Orcs / Humans. (Fantasy wargames is even sadder than wargames eh? [:D]) so could do with Goblins, Orcs, Goblin Archers, Troll, Human Pikemen, Human Archers, Human Militia, Human Cavalry, Wolf Riders. I'll have a quick look at Vics Tolkien Scenario now.

Right as it's tactical I'm going to have to disable supply aren't I. Anything else I'm going to have to take out of the game mechanics? And any ideas how to do so? I'm sitting down and starting it right now.

Hmmmm, it may be strategic rather than tactical. As I couldn't think of anyway to get random battlefields, and the same one time after time would be too boring.
Tried to upload my campaign map as a screenshot, but it's too big!
