Crazy Ebbets Field

Only ten games into the 1947 season, I've already had my share of wild & weird games. What is it about Brooklyn, its field and its players that created such oddness? Now, it's April, so the unpredictable weather plays a big part in this, but, I swear, I've never seen anything like it. Errors, wild pitches, home runs by the most unlikely players, comebacks, heartbreaks, heroes, villains -- damn!
Is some strange karma creeping into PS, or is it just happenstance? I wonder sometimes.
Needless to say, I'm loving every inning of it. [;)]

It's definitely strange karma, KG. Enjoy it while it lasts.
I currently have a fictional association going where through the first 40 games, my team had a collective batting average of .227. The only thing that kept them from losing ALL of their games is a stellar pitching staff with the lowest ERA in the association. Still, they were deep in last place, and no matter what I did, these guys would not wake up. Then out of nowhere they started hitting the ball, and hitting it well. Within a 20-day span, they went from last place to second place, one game behind the league leaders. Team average is up to .240 and climbing. That's what I love about this game--it is completely, frustratingly, delightfully unpredictable.
For all I know, this may be a short-lived hitting spree--so I will have fun with it while I can.

I recently started a 1901 historical league with the Brooklyn Superbas. Went 55-99 in 1901 with the worst pitching in the league, draft Addie Joss and George Mullin, started off 1902 with a 19-21 mark and since then have gone on a 23-4 tear to take over 1st place. With 9 of my next 12 games against teams that I am 13-14 against we shall see just how good my team is!!!!

Jestre...maybe they asked JoeBoo to come and take fear from bats. Did you see any cigars or rum missing from the dugout? [;)]
