Issues with remote out files

Maybe this has mentioned before, but I've experienced problems with the remote out file not correctly reflecting how I've set my depth chart. I sent a remote out to Gary, and he got back to me, saying that no blockers were set and no cornerbacks were set in my depth chart, even though they were set when I created the remote out file.

This is the 2nd time something like this has happened. Gary has also told me he's had problems sometimes.

Yeah remote files still dont work properly. Sometimes they work sometimes they dont,...... We have tried everything, ensuring the league file used was the same as used when the remote file is made and imported, making sure the team profile matches the active roster exactly, ensuring that players arent listed twice in the depth chart etc,..... and it still doesnt always work right.

Edit----- it seems to work best at the beginning of the season. As the season goes on, and there are injuries and free agents picked up to replace them, etc..... then it seems to start acting up.

It also, sometimes, appears to only be certain teams. I know yngvai has his roster set and it matches his profile, but it will give us fits. There are a couple other teams in the league that always have an issue.

This is a HUGE issue. The remote out feature MUST work for leagues.

Hello.

Remote in/out was tested prior to release of 2.0 and no problems were reported. Perhaps the testing didn't go deep enough into seasons.

"...then it seems to start acting up"

What does that mean exactly?

thanks
David

As a commissioner, I have seen a few issues. One problem I had was that TEs werent showing up in the depth chart, I had to change them to a SB. Then they would show up. Not as much a remote issue, but it may have caused some problems.

I have seen a few times where a remote in is applied but there are no players listed at a position in the depth chart, in particular this happens at DB a lot.

I always send out a new league file immediately after the weeks games have been played, and we mirror any roster moves.
This has happened with some of my more knowledgeable owners, so I think we are doing it right.

I will be running some games in the next day or so and have some remotes to apply, if I run into problems I will let you know what they are.

As Gary said, positions that are filled when the remote is made (remote out), are left blank when the file is imported (remote in) on the commisioners/person running the game PC.

I have seen it happen to QB, RB, LB, and DB, and most recently for retun men in the punt, kick return and field goal return formation.

I just applied a remote from one of our teams and it left no players at Corner and safety. But he has plenty of DBs.

David, I emailed you a zip of the league file and the csv, if it can help at all.

Hi Gary.

I have your files. As the database file you sent has already been through the import process, do you have a copy of it before you imported the file? It might help me determine if the problem lay with the export, or the import process.

thanks
David

I have a copy of it before he applied it. I will send it to you.

Got it.. thanks.

I think it might have something to do with the player bio actually. It might be confusing one of the entries in the player bio with a tag that I use to know what tables I'm working with.

okay.. so it was mentioned that DB's are problematic for this import file.

Attached is a screen shot taken once I edited the output csv file to remove the problematic tag. The import seemed to work and reported that it was successful. I've gone through all the depth chart positions and each one has players listed as you would expect.

Does this screen shot look correct to you?

If the CB and safety spots were filled in, it worked.

If an owner changes players from active to inactive or the opposite, then sends me a remote, should it change my copy of the roster to reflect his changes?

I had an owner make a DB inactive so he wouldnt be over his profile, and when I applied the remote to my league file it didnt make the change.

Yes it should do this. When you import a remote file the process deletes the existing player record and creates a new one based on the information in the file.

The remote system looks to be working properly now once I changed the team bio data. I'll check the active state flag to make sure that's working too.
