How come when two teams play for a championship it has to be played in the home teams field?

There is not a neutral site option at this time.

Here's a work around that you can try for now...

You can change the site of the championship game by using the team editor tool (Don't use the in-game editor because you can't switch stadiums once the season starts. Thats why you have to use the team editor tool outside the game.) Before the game just switch the home team's stadium to any stadium you want. Then, if you want to change the field graphics, just go to the home team's graphic file folder and switch out the endzone, mid-field graphics and perhaps even the goal post graphics to whatever you want. At the very least you'll be playing the game in a different stadium.

I created a completely seperate stadium (The Metro Bowl) for my championship game and this is what I do to get teams to play there for the big game. Works great.

Interesting, I'll have to try that metro bowl idea. It was question I asked a few weeks back and I think it would be a nice addition to some update or maybe v3.

A championship game site option would be a nice addition.
 
I don't have a full list of updated areas being considered for 3.x, so I don't know if anything is planned in this area.
