How to clear areacode fill???

Hi,

This is the second time in a day, that I've accidentally clicked on the "Set Area Code Values" while in the Hex editing section. I meant to click to set the Hex VP button, but spaced out and clicked the one above it. Unfortunately, neither entering nothing in the datafields, nor closing the dialog box will prevent the whole damned map from filling in with zeros for the area code. How do I get rid of this? Why does it fill in the whole map? Why doesn't cancelling, or closing the box prevent any data from being written? Why am I about ready to strangle something right now? Can anybody please help me, before I accost some small, furry animals?

For what it's worth, I'm editing WaW, and I'm concerned that filling in the map with an areacode of '0''s will screw up some events.

Okay...I figured out how to get rid of the zeros, by selecting the cursor to only be a pointer. My question, at this stage, is did I screw up anything? Are the hexes still tagged as areacode 0? Will there be any problems with event effects, if I've done no editing of events that pertain to predefined area codes?

Hi James,
It depends on which slot/area you filled with 0. The very first event in WaW is just a listing of the slot/areas Tom used and what for. With this you should be able to repair any damage you've caused.

But of course you backed up your work and won't need to do many fixes right?

Here is the listing

0) ' Slot 1 - Area 1 - Maginot line, Area 2 - Denmark, Eban Emaul, Olso. Used for Western Blitz
1) ' Slot 2 - A1 - N France, A2 - Vichy, A3 - N. Africa, A4 - Fr Indochina, A5 - Boston, A6 - DEI, A7 - US NE (more lend lease). Used for Vichy event
2) ' Slot 3 - SU boaders, A1 - NW SU, A2 - Poland, A3 - S SU, A4 - Ax Min, A5 - Manchuria, A6 Siberia. Used for garrisons and to end Nomohan war
3) ' slot 4, AI - uk, A2 - ConUS - use to check for Axis invasion
4) ' slot 5 - Partisans. A2 - West (Fr Ind, PI, Balkans), A3 - SU, A4 China
5) ' Slot 6 A1 - north wx - Used to paint winter white and do readiness reductions
6) ' slot 7 A1 - Japan, A2 - Germany, A3 - West
7) ' slot 8 A1 - China, A2 - Soviet Union
8) ' slot 9 A1 - Paris

You only get 9 slots so I use every one. However, you have a lot more codes to use so there is slot / area code space if you are careful.
