Doesn't matter because the mouse doesn't work is Vista anyway.

Please see the new FAQ post pinned in this forum. Also, FYI RFTS was never advertised as Vista-compatible and was released before Vista was on the market.

After all my complaining I am dissapointed that it couldnt be fixed another way.

I must thank you on dealing with this although it took a long time to do so. Again it is a shame it couldnt be fixed but i guess what can one do when all avenues have been discussed with the appropriate people (ie SSG).

Thank you and take care.

*now to find my order number and details*

That's why i don't have crappy Vista...

Long live XP!

Frankly i don't see why someone should get a refund...many many older games just don't work with Vista....such a shame

Microsoft should be help responsible and do the refund...

The problems weren't just under Vista.

Just for reference I dont have vista and I actually tried running this game under Windows 98 and it didnt work either (crashed all the time) so how you can say you shouldnt get a refund is beyond me, Maybe you should look at all the facts and posts made before posting. What should have happened is the game should have been released without the patch (ie original 2000 release) with the patch as a seperate download if required. It may have been buggier but from what ive read some of the people with the game and no patch still worked for them.

I wasn't saying that you shouldn't get a refund...i was saying that it should be from Microsoft [;)]

Didn't want to push you...sorry if i did.

I didn't realise that more people have had the same problem under XP...never happened to me and i've had the game installed on 5 different computers (currently 2).

Cheers

I didnt mean to come off so harsh if i did, Im a little annoyed it has come down to this since i feel RFTS is one of the better 4x games i have played, I owned it on the old apple computer and just wanted to play this one but alas its not to be. Good to hear yours works though and hope you enjoy it as much as i would have if i could play it.

So sad  [:(]

With all due respect to those having problems, I've enjoyed the Matrix version on my XP machine for years with no problems. This includes completing the campaigns several times over  [:D]

One of my favorite games; No refund request here. [:)]

Pity others will miss out on this now [8|]

Hi Guys, Just curious about how and when this will be refunded?

Will it be refunded to bank it was deducted from or will it be sent in cheque form?

I sent the e-mail about a week or so ago and still got no reply or refund, In the email i put all the details and asked to be emailed back saying when its been done and nothing, Please answer if you can.

Thanks,
Dlotus

Normally, the refund would be done in the way it was paid, but there may be some cases where due to the time elapsed special arrangements may be required. Refunds take up to 10 business days to make their way through the financial system (not ours, but those between us and you). I've asked our support folks to make sure they reply to such requests to confirm receipt (that is standard procedure, but it's been re-emphasized). Since they normally do, if you've received no reply you should probably re-send as well.

Regards,

- Erik

Just finished this again. The basics for me included:

Be sure to design all new ships as the last thing you do before winning mission 9. All your starting ships in 10 are based on your latest designs in 9 and you'll need battleships or super dreadnaughts with lots of planet killers and crusiers with volley missles. The idea is to take out any hive planet in only 1 shot.

Be sure to send some kind of destroyer to cover all of your planets and unowned planets every turn. the hive sends out lots of unescorted colony ships that must be destroyed before landing.

As soon as you can, send out at least 2 colony ships of your own each turn; you can colonize faster than the hive can destroy them.

In addition to the above, have a few core systems (each with several planets) that you actually defend.

Change the default build queue to industry only. Only build other stuff individually as needed on planets you can defend.

HTH! [:D]

I wasn't sure about that but yes, the entire campaign is linked together and so the ships aswell! This is why i keep losing...my ships ain't good enough...

I used to do that but with my crappy ships it was too difficult....

Thanks for your precious tips!

Game works great on a netbook with Windows 7 (didn't i post this somewhere?).

Anyway...i think the game could be offered for free for those willing to play it...it's really a great game.

Yep Anguille, I don't know why they can't put it up for free like WIR, and the others. Oh Well...
