Hey gang,

My friend who just started playing JTCS with me found this wiki article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomonhan_Incident

It was early 39 clashes between the Japanese and the Russians. My friend thinks this would be a great scenario or series of scenarios. Anyone interested in making some? Any suggestions on how to get more information to make historically accurate scenarios? I would be glad to try and make something, but I am not sure how to find historical information.

Thanks,
Duncan

Reading is always an excellent start for historical scenario design. The more you know, the easier the design will be.

You'll need an accurate base map or relatively accurate depending on how historical you wish to make the scenario.

You'll need an accurate order of battle. You can acquire general order of battles online and for more detailed information, you will find in your researching.

Start with that and you will be able to start piecing together the scenarios that you would like to create based on your chosen subject.

I have a Combat Studies by Leavenworth Papers on the subject, maps, TO&E as well as accounts of the battles. It was done in 1981, by Edward J. Drea, US Army Command and General Staff College. Very well done, if you can find one of these, it would be worthwhile. The links before this post are exerpts from it!!

Alvin Coox has a 1276-page book out on this subject.  The Amazon reviewers (13) gave it four and a half stars out of five.  I believe I saw Drea's book available on Amazon as well.
