Headaches w/hyphens

Don't know about anyone else, but I just purchased an AACW CD and had a devil of a time entering in my code, probably due to the hyphens as dashes just don't do it.
I had to go into MS Word's special characters, find the right hyphen, then cut and paste it between my alphanumeric code strings to finish loading the game.
Anyone else experience this problem?
