How do you raise morale levels in the campaign game ??

Manual says the best way is to kill enemy planes. I think it said a 2-1 kill ratio would do it. Also resting probably helps, but you'd need days or weeks I bet.

Oh you bloody defeatists! If you are paying the Luftwaffe, just have Goering give your boys a nice speech, that ought to do it. So what effects would low morale have? Do they turn back quicker? I'm curious, is there a position, perhaps the overall commander, who can get a squadron to head for home at any time?

Rest, more kills and do not kill squadron leaders ... so pripary do not fly like squadron leader [8D]

Morale affects things like finding a target, hitting a target, running from a fight, etc. Morale is key to winning a campaign as it can be the difference between knocking out a target in one raid or needing 3 raids to do the same level of damage.
I’m sure morale affects a lot of other things as well, but I’m not that familiar with the details of the game yet.

I think it is a little silly, the game don't know what is going on in the fight
shot down 20 planes and the report says you got slaughter
got one report for my mission, knocked 8 Stukas and had 2 Canes damaged, we got hammered and outfought today ?
I got some Squadrons getting ripped apart, but they not losing planes in battle ?, what don't they know the way home ?
if there getting low on fuel, they need to break off themselfs, not have me tell them to, as I can fly back to base with my fuel load ??
also for the AI, they need to tell the Stuka it can't dogfight, kind of shocking to see a Stuka sit on your tail and not be able to shake him, put the nose down and level out and the bugger can keep up with you, what kind of top speed does the thing have in the game when it can keep pace with a Cane or Spit in a level flight

Here is most of the information you requested from the game code:
[font="times new roman"]Morale / Skill in the Campaign[/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will decrease for every sortie flown (-0.5)[/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will decrease if squadron leader is killed (-1)[/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will decrease for each pilot killed (-0.5)[/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will decrease when kept at 2 minutes but not scrambled (-0.5)[/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will decrease if Base is bombed (-2)[/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will increase for each period that squadron is released (+1)[/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will increase for each period in Group 13 (+2)[/font]
[font="times new roman"]Morale will increase for each enemy shot down (+0.2)[/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"]Skill will decrease for every pilot lost (-0.2)[/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"]Skill will increase for every sortie flown (-0.5)[/font]
[font="times new roman"]Skill will increase for every enemy fighter shot down (+0.5)[/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
[font="times new roman"] [/font]
Various factors improve skill and morale during play:
(1) Losing leader:
Ave morale goes down 1 value
On losing first leader, second leader is used, with his skill as listed.
On losing second leader, further leaders are generated with false name and mid-skill between outgoing leader and squad.
(2)Improving skill:
If squad is in G13 or G12N, skill increases at 5% of diff between leader and squad per day, and morale increases by 0.5 levels per day.
If squad is in active location but rested whole day, morale increases by 0.5 levels, skill unchanged.
If squad doesn't fly for a period (3 per day) morale increases by minimum point.
If squad flys and suffers no losses or kills, morale increases by 2*minimum, ave skill increases by 3% of diff between leader and squad.
If leader gets kills, his skill increases by 0.5 levels
If squad gets kills, ave skill improves by 2% of diff between leader and squad per kill.
If squad gets losses> 0.5 of kills ave morale down 0.3 of value
If squad write-off ave morale down 2*minimum
(3) Temporarily decreasing skill:
Each consecutive period of flying (3 per day) decreases skill and morale by 2*minimum
1 period of non-flying clears this effect.
3d effect:
Skill of leader is directly translated to lead aircraft.
Remaining aircraft get aveskill+ rnd((leadskill-aveskill)/3)

Sarge,
Sounds like you are running the Terminator AI [8D]
I am not quite there yet. Once I get this view thing worked out I might get there. [8D]
I figure if you rotate the squadrons in and out of the hot spots and dont wear them down it might keep them from getting too fatigued. I am still workin my first campaign... uh.. well I was... Lesson #1 in Computer Campaign Games... Save Game Often...
I got so immersed in the campaign I forgot to save it and in the middle of a huge battle my anti-virus software starts runnin a freakin update and locks the campaign up and I had to restart the machine.... [:@][:@][:@][:@]
That is why I am posting here atm.... got so ticked at myself for being so stupid I had to walk away. [8D]
On one of the intercepts I flew the enemy was a Recon bird. It ducked into the clouds and got away. I sent the other 2 birds back to the nest and I continued on. Came out of the clouds over the French coast and found a flock of Ju87's warming up on the runway [X(][X(][X(]
CHA CHING !!!!
brought the squadrons morale up pretty good, almost 2 full points. Full load of ammo
and fish in a barrel.
Later,
KayBay

remember the game does do a auto save, so you can get back into the general area of where you were, you may lose the big battle you had, but, yea, I save after every battle, just in case
Hi Buddye, thanks for speaking up
ahhh, for the code, the increase on each kill ? is that each kill the game sees, or each claim the squadron makes ? i have had some missions, were we are claiming, 30-40 kills (which I think is a little more then we did)
since we got the morale/skill level increases, can we know what the numbers needed are ? good morale is 7, very good morale is 10 or what not ???

well, since Tangmare just got bombed, decided to send off my two squadrons for some rest, based on the info here
background
43 squadron
7 patrols with no contact
1 kill no losses
no kills, 2 damaged, 1 loss, 1 pilot
3 kills, 2 damaged, 2 lost, 2 pilots
1 kill but from the other squadron
2 kills, 4 damaged, 8 losses, 3 pilots (? think a lack of fuel)
2 kills, 4 damaged
3 kills, 5 damaged, 2 losses, 2 pilots
so, 11 kills, losses of 17 damaged, 13 planes, and 8 pilots
sister squadron
601
11 patrols, no contact
10 kills, 3 damaged
9 kills, no damaged
1 kill, no damaged
12 kills, 8 damaged, 2 loss, 2 pilots
4 kills, 2 damaged, 3 loss, 3 pilots
so, 47 kills, 13 damaged, 5 losses and 5 pilots
interesting, how two squadrons from the same base, have so different numbers, looks like 43 begins the contract, and 601 finishes

hmmm, got me interested, so went looking for some of my good units
I see that 19 and 310 tend to fly togeather alot
19 Squadron
11 patrols no contact
7 patrols they made contact (with 310 in support) 75 kills, for 23 damaged, 13 losses and 10 pilots
310 Squadron
19 patrols, either no contact or no claims, 4 damaged aircraft
4 patrols with contact and claims, 76 kills, for 26 damaged, 17 lost and 13 pilots (with one patrol looking like it ran out of fuel, 3 damaged, 9 lost, and 9 pilots)
