ok, I know what is supposed to be in the text blocks, but on my high end machine with a recent card, ati 1950pro, recent drivers, correct dx etc..
I get the text block, then what looks like the old Kilrathi sci fi letters.. blocks and gibberish.. how do I fix this? nothing on the devs page related to this .. thanks

It should be saying something like, uploading data on obhects etc, and then the cockpit data also looks like this same gibberish

The first thing that popped into my eyes is that your graphic driver are old. You should upgrade to the latest ATI Catalyst 8.2 (14 Feb 2008). While at it I would suggest you also upgrade your sound drivers.

sound drivers are fine, running through digital out to sterreo and that all works.. the resolution was " the resolution"
I had ticked off the set to desktop and notice how the dx diag shows 16 x 12 and not the true setting 19 x 12 for max setting,
I manually set it to 19 x 12 WOW issue and clear skies resolved! VERY pretty
