March 08 Update #1

I'm fully up and compiling code. Woot! I'll start putting together some screen tonight of the game. Rob and I are hard at work knock out a number of minor bugs and cleaning up UI items. We are also adjusting and tweaking the data files and structures to smooth things out. I'm also up to my eyeballs in supporting graphics and also working out and cleaning up the National files (parts of the database that show info for a given country for a given decade).
Stay tuned. Things are getting interesting. [:D]

A number of screens were taken back down due to concerns of copyrights on the placeholder artwork. I'll edit the pics and repost Monday evening. What you are seeing is pre-beta layout and it is subject to change down the road as we tweak things.
The Briefing Screen. You can see you mission and forces. There is a wealth of info here before the game gets going.

More briefing goodness. You can track how each unit is doing over the long haul of a campaign. Items like kills and decorations are listed here.

Still more info... There is a tab with the Kills Matrix and then this force overview page. Here you can see just how good you need to be to win big.

The start of the battle. Israeli units in light blue and the Syrians in the dark green. Also shown is the map features. Not as hand painted as FPG but you can make new maps with the included map editor. Also shown are a few mine fileds and improved positions. The numbered circles are Victory locations. Also new are the fantasitic leader pics in the upper right (that is final artwork). The map layout is in the same style as FPG.

New to the game engine is the Sub-Unit Inspector and Subunits displays at the bottom of the screen. This replaces the popup data viewer from FPG with a much more detailed view of the units and their capabilities.

Now we're talkin. Good to see some action around here. Go team! LOL. Love that cell-shaded portrait. I hope that style makes it to gold.

Excellent! I loved the FPG interface - one of the best of any wargame IMHO. This looks even better. Looking forward to more updates.

I just want to note that the terrain artwork set that can be seen in the shoot is not the latest one, the new one looks better. So expect some updates on that.

I'll second Marc's terrain statement. We used an older map to build a scenario for a test build. We do have some better looking stuff in hand. I'll see if I can get the map rebuild with the new cells and tiles and post that in the next few days.
I do believe the cell shaded portraits are gold artwork. There was a question about the contrast/brightness of the display graphics a while back. I'll have to see if that has been corrected.

Does all that mean that --perhaps-- my long wait for a good MidEast wargame are much closer to become true? [:)]
Cheers,

No RS shots yet. We are working to get everything running under the Mideast data. Adding in RS will be a simple matter of some terrain artwork and some small National Data files. If all goes well. [:D] Making scenarios and campaigns is much easier in this new game engine. Being more like a construction set we are hoping to generate a lot of 3rd party support around the games.
More later.

How is the game comming along? its mid september now, any update?
Can we get some screenshots of the LOS tools present in the new engine? Also read in another thread the way arty and air strike would be changed from FPG, any elaboration on that.
