A friend and I are trying to play a PBEM game on NIR, Shevardino scenario. He has the old Talonsoft version and I have the Matrix one. We seem to get through a few turns, and then he ends up getting this error ("error Reading Battle File"). Are the two versions compatible?

I'm honestly not sure their completely compatible. There have been some changes made that could cause problems. We didn't test to see if they were compatible with the old Talonsoft version.

Thanks for the reply Greg, my friend went ahead and bought the Matrix version and we are able to play now. I had read somewhere, possibly on a different site, that the two were compatible. I can *unofficially* confirm that they are not [:D].

Only problem I have now is pulling up the scenario notes in the Matrix version.

I do the training at the NWC and I'm just about to start a game with a new Matrix game owner. I own the original version. I'll let you know what happens. Sometimes the error described happens even in compatible games.

Actually that would be me [;)]. After thinking about it, my friend may not have upgraded to the latest version, which mayhave caused the problem. Anyway we'll know for sure soon enough [:D].

Just for the records - we have now played a scenario by PBEM and encountered no problems. So the versions seem to be compatible.
