No UK infantry division?

Hi all

Am I mistaken, or is there no UK infantry divisions in the COTA estab? I see a UK infantry brigade, a couple of armored brigades and divisions, and several commonwealth infantry divisions... Its a bit of a pain to build one from scratch (its for my Sealion scenario).

The estabs are there to build a UK infantry division, there just isn't a pre-made force list to import.

You may want to consider a group of Brigades operating under an "Island Command" Corps HQ. But in the same respect, you would be doing something similar anyway under an Infantry Division HQ.

The "duplicate force" command in the scenario editor can make this go by quick. Also don't forget to download the scenario editor tools if you havn't done so already. They are in the download section of the COTA official website.

I have a UK infantry division template, and have made a few (1st thru 4th) infantry divisions. I had to 'fake' the recon regts, as the only armoured car unit is the MH. But that shouldn't be a big impact. I think Mk VI's were used early on as well.

PM me your email, and I'll send the XML's to you. Can these be posted somewhere on the forum?

Edit: the tedious part is entering all the regiment names, even when you duplicate brigades.

There are also estabs now for 11th Hussars, which contains the Rolls Royce AC and the CS9 LRC:

Not that I know of.

Using the "find/replace" function in the excel scenario tools spreadsheet has saved me many hours of tedious work. Not to say it still isn't tedious though[;)]

Yeah, that's what I did. I start with a template division, with place holder names that I use the replace function on to put in the real names. I was going to do more, but once the war got going, they shuffled the brigades/bns around enough that I feel it isn't worth it to take a 'snapshot in time' arbitrarily of a particular division unless there's a specific need.

A few posts down, I posted a website that has OOB's for all UK/Empire/Commonwealth OOBs. Good reference for unit names and assignments, but doesn't address equipment issues. So I may know that a certain Recon Regt is assigned to 3rd UK ID on such-and-such date, but I don't know what vehicles are in said Recon regt. The infantry Bns are easy - HQ, A thru D coys, mortar Plt, and you're good to go 90% of the time.

I'll be looking forward to this Sealion scenario. I was thinking of doing one of those as well, but got stymied with the maps. Do you have topo maps of southern England?

How about the Home Guard? Maybe Greek units?
