Just idea ... what about Battle of Britain in WitP concept ... just aircrafts and base forces and AA units ... may be some HQs [8D]
GB will be Japan side with ac production, Germany on Allied side trying knock out RAF in air, on ground, in factories ...

Hello Matto,

the idea about BOB has crossed my mind, too, a long time ago - but fiddling with the WiTP engine to create War in Russia has "collapsed my system"!!!
Dali (curiously also from the Czech Republic) and I are giving the last touches to our Russia Mod and will make it available to download quite soon, so people can test it, play it, delete it, give their opinion and corrections, ... and you (and Historiker for his mod) can use whatever you need for your work (planes, ships, art, names,...)

The "grognards" in the forum don´t try to discourage you even if it seems that way, they´re being realistic - it´s terribly hard work and when you´re finished it will never act as you intended it to act, but if you can live with that, where´s the problem?

I have my own ideas about what would be interesting as a game loosely based on the WitP concept for the ETO. Unfortunately, I'm convinced you can't build it on the WitP engine, not even on the AE upgrade. The Med would be feasible, of course, but if you want something centered on the Atlantikwall/Britain side you would have to switch scales, and I'm sure the WitP map couldn't deliver. I'll explain:

- The focus should be on littoral warfare because that was where things happened in WWII - all those nocturnal knife fights in the Channel, destroyer and S-Boat raids against coastal convoys, mine warfare (which would take central importance in such a scenario)
- lots of aggressive CD installations
- Hex size of maximally 20 miles (smaller if the engine can handle gunfire across hex borders)
- The influence of water depth and tidal currents would ideally have to be modelled
- which means the foul weather in the area should also be present (which is btw a current interest matter, you may have seen interesting footage if you can receive European TV news, if not, here is an impressive video:

- the area should encompass the Atlantikwall area from the Spanish border to Murmansk, including the British Isles and the Baltic

This would allow you to game the German attempt to cut off Britain's imports, Murmansk convoys, the Allied preparation and execution of the Invasion, the German retreat in the Baltic etc, without delving too deeply into European-scale land warfare, but with lots of air and naval action and a limited degree of land warfare. Alas, this would very probably need a whole new game.

A proper WitM should be easier. I'll have to say, however, that I don't think WitM would be really complete without a way to simulate the German evacuation of Sicily across the Straits of Messina in broad daylight, essentially unhindered in the face of crushing Allied air and naval superiority (definitely an operation where barges would assume central importance). I'd also like to see destroyers on a bombardment mission being shot to wrecks by a few AA batteries as happened off Tobruk - you won't see anything like that in WitP, I think.

I was thinking JUST about BoB ... three months scenario without ships, LCUs etc. Just aircrafts, base forces and AA units ... just air factories on GB side ... [/align]
