wrong country conquest

I haven't yet downloaded the newest patch, but I don't remember seeing this addressed or reported before.
Situation: Austria is at war with Turkey. Hanover is an Austrian free state, Swedish Pomerania is a Turkish free state. Austria sends the Hanover corps into S. Pomerania to conquer it.
Attached is the Austrian land combat phase. Play through it, and S. Pomerania should change ownership in the diplomatic phase. Which it does--to France. (And the Hanover corps gets repatriated to Copenhagen.)
I don't think it can be a case of ceding to an ally, since it's not during the economic phase, and I don't think that's allowed when there are hostile forces in the province anyway.
My best guess is that since Hanover starts the game as a French possession, the corps has somehow been permanently branded as French for purposes of effecting conquest.
