I have played MVP Baseball in the past, but now I want something different. Can u create teams and leagues or are you stuck with the default league? If I buy the game I want to create NCAA league. Any info or thoughts on the game would be helpful.

The game comes with the Lahman dB, giving you access to all MLB players up through the 2007 season. You can import entire seasons, teams, or individual players to mix-and-match. You can also use fictional players, or even combine real and fictional together.

For your desire to use NCAA players, you could edit real or fictional players and give them the names and ratings you want. This would require some work on your part, but might be fun once you've finished editing. Once you're done with the name and ratings changes, you can import team logos and design stadiums to match the college stadiums. As far as the ratings go, it will take some trial and error, but will be well worth it once you've finished.

With all of the things that can be done by the user, this program is well worth the money you'll spend.

I spent about a week reading through this board (and a couple others) before making my purchase. I look forward to saying: "Welcome aboard, enjoy the ride".

Does this game work with Vista? Is there is only a sim option or can you play?

I can't help you with the Vista question, as I am not knowledgeable in that area.

With Pure Sim, you can sit back and watch as Commissioner and/or GM. You can also manage the team of your choice (even switching teams during the season) against the computer-managed teams.

This is NOT an arcade-style game. It has enough graphics to make it pleasant on the eye, but if you're looking to play home run derby, see players' faces grimace, or watch them spit, this is not your cup of tea. My 14-year-old would never like Pure Sim, as he has grown up with the arcade-types of baseball games. If your interest is in statistics, financials, or playing "what-if" with baseball history, get out your credit card. You'll be happy!

I am done with the arcade thing. It as great for a while, but then it just wasn't any fun. I am looking for a baseball game like Maximum Football where I can create jerseys, stadiums, coach, and GM my team.

Just FYI, therhino- yes, this game runs just fine on Vista. In fact, I have run it successfully on Win2000, XP and on Vista.

There are no uniforms but you can import team logos, stadiums and player faces (for their player info screen and in-game appearances).

It is definitely the GM / coaching game you are looking for. You can manage each game or sim a week, month or entire season worth of games. Leagues can expand, players traded, released, sent down to one of three levels of minor leagues (A, AA, AAA), negotiate player contracts or play with finances off. Pinch hit, steal bases, intentionally walk or pitch around hitters and more.

This is a great game for any fan of baseball and I would recommend it to anyone.

therhino,

If you're still unsure, do what I did- get the demo. You'll be hooked in no time. You'll convince yourself to get it- I guarantee it.
