Error 6

Seems like a great game, however I got this message when editing a player's bio. I am playing sandbox mode, haven't started my season yet, just assigning players to teams. Is there a limit on how many bios you can edit? I changed a few others and there was no problem. Also another problem is the ratings I am getting for some players are not accurate (like Davey Lopes having 5 contact rtg.) This is the reason I was changing their bios in the first place. No such problems in my other sandbox league.

Not sure what the Error 6 means.

As far as the player ratings, did you choose to rate from 1-100?

What year of Lopes are you importing? If it's a year when he had few at-bats, he would have a low rating. It probably shouldn't be as low as 5 on a 100 scale, though. At present, the program rates all batters with few ABs with a Contact rating of 5. I have pointed out this problem many times, but it still remains. It was introduced to the game over a year ago in an attempt to fix something else.

Watch out for pitchers with very few innings pitched in their imported season. To keep them from poisoning your assn, raise their Stuff, Control, and Velocity ratings 30-40 each. This will keep them from having an ERA above 15.00. If you leave them with a Stuff of 5, coupled with low Control and Velocity, stand by for some frustration. You have been warned.[;)]

Thanks for reply, my ratings are set to a 1-100 scale, and Lopes' year was 1974 (530 AB, .266 Avg.).  The problem seems to be that I am getting "generic" numbers for my batting ratings, either 5, 50, or 100, and nothing else.  For example, Paul Konerko '05 (.283, 40 HR) has 50 contact, power, and eye, Brooks Robinson '67 had 100 contact, 5 power, 100 eye.  Fielding ratings are fine.  Note that in another sandbox league set up exactly like this one I had no such problems.

I'm getting this error. The only time it's happening is when I try to change a pitcher's role in his Bio. Unfortunately, the error causes the game to crash, and from that point forward any time I try to access such a player's Player Card it brings the game to a halt and I have to use Task Manager to kill it. What can be done to get the association back in line?

I'm getting this error too...and its ruining the game for me.

I'm adding players individually for a sandbox league and then tweaking the ratings...it only seems to happen to pitchers...like Wrathchild said above and once it happens...that players "players card" is no longer accessible and if you try to open it, the game crashes...I'd delete the player if I could...but you can't.

so now all the work I've done creating the league is ruined....Has anyone figured out what this is and why it's happening...and more importantly...how to keep it from happening?

I eventually gave up and stopped playing for a while but a few months later I started a new league and did not have any problems. The only thing you could do if it keeps happening is release the player into free agency, import him again from another year, tweak his ratings accordingly, and hope it goes ok.

ok I posted to soon, this problem is back...the other posters are spot on it's only a problem when editing pitchers. Before, I could at least release the player but now I can't even do that...game just freezes. Might this be fixed by loading and processing a patch? Any solution would be greatly appreciated...

I don't know if Shaun's seeing these messages in this section.  I'd post these error messages in the main section and see if he can look at them and get them fixed for a future release.
