BUILDINGS/COMBAT In them?

I didn't see anything on buildings so I'd like to know when units are inside buildings do the buildings go transparent like in CM? Or we just gonna see those silly coins over the building the unit is in?
Also, what about melee skirmishes inside buildings. Any animations to these or is it gonna be plain and no animations? Like Tossing grenades etc. I'd like to see some bayonet action....and screaming there really needs to be some screaming on the battlefield. Knife fights would be kewl also and tossing of helmets and neat stuff like that. lol I'm not asking for much am I?
Are there prone positions and sneaking/crawling commands? Are there stairs we'll see the units climbing to 2nd 3rd stories? Are there more than 2 story buildings? Can I put a unit in the church bell tower??

Yes, they go transparent.

No melee animations - man, you are a wish list machine. We do have a tossing grenade animation though, I believe we use that when they chuck smoke grenades, IIRC.

Yes, units go prone and kneel based on their situation. You can't command them to do it. You don't see units climbing stairs, combat within a building is somewhat abstracted in that sense. I've posted before that we did not work on full city fight/building fight rules for this release but whenever we get to city fights, those will be added in. For the existing houses and two story buildings we have, it works fine. Yes, you can put a unit in the church bell tower and since line of sight is done in 3D it will be able to see over those trees that the units in the ground floor can't see over.

Oh boy a Saving Pvt Ryan mod hopefully hahah using Russians....or maybe a sniper scenario from that Russian movie...what's its name? Yah know the one where the german sniper hung that little boy at the end? That's a good movie. I especially liked the part where that one sniper nailed that other sniper as he was jumping from a blind spot over to another area....man thas some shooting. When I play BF1942 and the Battle of the Bulge scenario I always get up in the Church bell tower and plink other players with my sniper rifle. I like sniping people. haha
Thanks for the info Erik...still sounds good even without all the neat animations I thought of.
What about those screams?? Surely you can add some neat sound effects like that?

I do hope that there are not too many infantry smoke grenades; I'm not at all sure that they were much used on the Eastern Front and could lead to some rather gamey situations.
On the other hand, is there grenade throwing for close combat? From what I understand, close assaults facilitate infantry attacks on tanks not with other infantry. If not in this release it will certainlly be a requirement for urban combat, along with hand to hand fighting and the use of flamethrowers.

There aren't many - they're pretty much "one shot" in the context of a scenario and only for squads that our research told us had access to them.

Currently, the firepower rating for each infantry squad has a 0-30m category, which assumes full use of close assault weapons and methods. When we do expanded city fighting rules, it makes sense to add some more detail and animations to this.

I do love putting snipers up in church towers - snipers get a bonus to spotting and are harder to spot, so they're about the best unit to stick up there, especially if it's a Sniper HQ unit that could spot for artillery as well.
