Lords of the realm

Now who remembers this wonderful PC game?
I'm working on a lords of the realm scenario, startedwhen I got back from my warrant run this afternoon.
So far I've only managed to get about half the map done, here's a sneek preview.....
I plan to use action cards for mercenary companies, use the research system to better arm soldiers. i.e. Peasants > Axemen > Swordsmen etc. I might give the Welsh worse cavalry and some kind of partisan unit, fortresses will be changed to castles, and probably made more powerful. Peasants will have some engineering capability.
Any other ideas? Or anything people think should be included?

Not a bad likeness of the old homeland
I have no idea what Lords of the Realm is or was but good luck.

Good luck with this. Never played Lord of the Realm myself. I do remember Defender of the Crown which I think is similar which was enjoyable.
I noticed that you cannot get around Cornwall or Scotland so sea transport maybe limited. Is this intentional or will you be expanding the map a bit? I think there were more forests around at that time also. What is the time the scenario is set?
I would like to try this scenario out when you are ready.

Very good point about Cornwall, I'll sort that. Im going to have Llywelyn in the scenario, so that would make it pre 1282 [;)], but it won't actually be historical, just a sort of middle ages feel. Not sure whether to have some kind of middle way between historical acuraccy and firness. (i.e. make wales week, london strong) or take a lot of the flavour out of the game but make it fairer. The sort of difference between the diplomacy scenarios and the great war or 1939 scenarios that come with the game. Any comments.
There are more forests, and some towns and cities in my current map, it's still not finished, that was just the map last night, Scotland and Wales were pretty much done on that one, I hadn't yet added the terrain to England.

Oh btw, in the map editor i can't seem to find a graphic for ports. I can find the loc type but not the landscape type. Does the anchor just appear of its own accord if i put an urban landscape on the coast?

If you want it to act as a port then use the LocType -> Shipwarf or Makeshift Port. If you just want the graphic, it's under Landscapes -> plains -> port.png.

Plains has a lot of sprites attached to it. Always look there if in doubt ...

Thanks folks. Map is 100% complete (attatchment updated), though subject to change for balance and playability purposes once i've got all the rest done and started playtesting.

OK, regimes added. Cymry, Alba, Kernow, Northern England and Southern England. Any idea for better names for the English regimes? One is based in York, the other in London.

Here's a first peek.....
It's early on in the Welsh rising, a peasant militia is quickly raised and starts to fortify the area in preperation for the assault of the royal army.
