Unit data discrepancies

Hi
At last I got my copy of HCE. It's realy nice to see and play this game again after long
break (played first time on Amiga 500

. Just few looks at the WestPack and all ready like it

.
Well back to the question. I have noticed that in some battlesets the unit data is different when
vied via display platform and selecting unit and that viewing it with the “full” button. What is the
cause and witch data is really “in game”?.

Can you be more specific? Can't say I'm following ... [&:]
No problem. I will list it because it's the easiest way.
1)Open EC2003 Battle For North Atlantic battleset
2)Select Red Side
3)Select scenario named „Fingers of death” (the 2nd one)
4)Select submarine group ZZU in the unit window (single Yankee C sub)
5)Now if You view data for this sub via display button in the raport window
You can cleary see that MKG-540 has 32 nm range for CZ. The data for the same
hydrophone in this sub view via 'full' button is 32 nm and the second CZ is on 64 nm.
Witch data is correct and why the data is different?

That helps a lot, thanks.
Firstly, I assume we're talking about sub group ZOU (the Yankee C), because I couldn't find a ZZU in that scenario.
To summarize, the two different ranges are intentionally displayed. One is the "paper" range of the sonar found in the DB, while the other is the "performance" range, i.e. the actual range at that time as determined by local acoustic conditions.

Thx for answer. BTW is there a possibility to have old sound in the game?

By old sound I assume you mean the sounds you would have heard in HC97 (and earlier), not the flashed up ones for HCE? Definitely possible, one unsanctioned way is to swap in the harpoon32.dll file from HC97 (or HC2002 or HC Gold, or the release version of HCE). The other way is to live with the new sounds until the next patch at which time the sounds can be swapped in and out (many of the game graphics too, i.e. victory and loss images, staff assistant, etc.).

More detail on the sound and graphics in the next patch...
HC Graphics Explanation
Updated: 2008/03/11
Note: files are in Windows bitmap format. Replace the existing file
with the file you would like to use for the event. 8-bit (256 color)
is suggested but it appears 16-bit color will work as well.
Any graphic with CDB in the name is shown for CommonDB BattleSets
(EC2003 and newer).
Use the same size image as the original for best results.
GR_CIC_*.BMP - Staff Assistant Windows
GR_LOGO_*.BMP - Splash screen graphics
GR_SUNK_CV_*.BMP - Shown when a carrier is sunk, varies by BattleSet
GR_SUNK_SHIP_*.BMP - Shown when a ship is sunk, varies by BattleSet
GR_SUNK_SUB_*.BMP - Shown when a submarine is sunk, varies by BattleSet
GR_VIC_*.BMP - Shown when victory condition dialog appears, varies
by BattleSet

I have replaced dll file and it makes things bad (unit icons are messed up). Any time table for new patch?

Patch #2 is likely a long ways off (in the very rough 6 month range I'd say) but that could always change.
