I originally ordered as a download+CD....

I only got about half-way through the game when I had computer issues unrelated to the game itself.

I now have a new computer, and have installed the game on this new machine. However, when I try to update the game, I get an FTP error.

Any ideas of what's wrong, or how to fix/work around it?

They have the patch2 hosted there.

What's the FTP error?

Without seeing the error my first guess would be that your firewall is blocking the FTP.
