I have read that you download it, replace this, make sure the map is there.......

Can some one help out a newby, just bought CoI....it great.......now I want to install the great war mod with out errors. Can someone give me a step by step

Ok, I tried it on my own.  I downloaded the patch, it self installed in my CoI program.  I then downloaded the maps, extracted it in my maps folder (not sure if I needed it there or in the seperate GWMaps folder it came in, so I extracted it both places.
 
How do I get to play it now?  I opened up CoI main game, and clicked on mod swap and still no go?  Help?

Oh, I tried several times, I even moved the great war download to the plug in folder.  I tried to download it, but it says it is already there?  Huh, not that I can find.
 
I have clicked again and again on the mod swap button on the CC and it does not work at all?

Looks like you have downloaded and installed correctly

1. Download the mod file eg GreatwarmodpluginforCoI.exe (GW) - Completed
2. Run the exe which will installGreatWar mod to your plugins folder. - Completed



from your post it looks like you have problems from here.

If, when you click on ModSwap from Command Centre nothing happens then you haven't done a full install, so ModSwap a few other addons are not installed.


CLOSE COMMAND CENTER

Navigate to

C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Support\CloseCombatCC.exe

and run CloseCombatCC.exe


This will install ModSwap and other addons

when that is complete open Command Center.


3. When that is complete Open ModSwap from Command Center. 4. From the File menu choose Install and select GreatWarmod.cc3 5. Click on Open and OK to install. 6. Close ModSwap. 7. Select "Play" from Command Center to play CoI with GreatWar Mod Installed.8. To play the GW campaign scroll to the bottom of the list on Historical campaigns Tab (Great War campaign)
9. You can Download the mappack and unzip to your maps folder to play further operations. - completed

Thanks for replying, but I do not have that one  C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Support\CloseCombatCC.exe

and run CloseCombatCC.exe

 
I have the following in that folder  CloseCombatCC (set up Application)  Crossof Iron Update, Cross of Iron Update, dotnetfx, msjavwu.
 
When I click on Closecombatcc (the set up) it takes me back to original set up series.

also, read my second post on where to open my maps for this mod.

Ok, did what you suggested, reinstalled the game, installed the mod using mod swap.  Clicked on play from Command Center.  It ran the Great War on boot up, this may be a stupid question, but how do you get back to the Coi germans vs russians?   I thought when you did the mod, it was just added to the basic game as additional scenerios?  Or do you have to uninstall it and load it every time?

Use ModSwap to uninstall Great War it will only take a minute or 2. (probably less)

Just decide what you want to play.

Any saved games will remain in place ready for you to continue next time you load Great war.

Do I have to reinstall CoI? or just the WWI patch when I decide to play it?

CoI will always be there

You just install and uninstall GW or any other mod with modswap.
