Unknown Destination?

Looking on my ship availability window, I've got one of the Dutch subs scheduled to show up in 1 day. However, the destination is shown as "unknown". That poor ship has been on the availability list for at least a few months now, and it never shows up apparently because they don't know where to report!

These will only arrive at one of the bases listed in the manual, section 15.5. You need to hold either Tjilitjap or Soerabaja for these forces to arrive.

(Trying to visualize a Dutch sub crew and sub hiding IRL in Tjilitjap or Soerabaja in late 1942, waiting for the Allies to liberate the port so they can reveal themselves and go fight the Japanese...)
No, sorry, can't do it. This makes no sense whatsoever.

It's not star trek... the ship won't suddenly teleport into one of the above mentioned bases [;)]

So this ship would have only appeared had the Allies kept one of the two Dutch ports in late 1942? That too makes little to no sense...

Yep, they should be allowed to sail into another port or something but they are not. [:)]

You should not have allowed those ports to be taken over by naval and air forces from the Empire of Japan.....[;)]

It makes sense when the dutch Governement in Exile decided that the sub would better serve the Allied cause in the Baltic or Med and so ordered it there since its bases in the Pacific were taken.

The other explaination is that it was in the yard on Java and since the ports fell, the ship was scuttled to prevent capture.

Would it return later on if it was scuttled, though?

subs can't be scuttled when their home port is occupied by the enemy, they automaticaly get away.

Subs can be scuttled when a base is captured - as the Japanese, I have sunk more subs by scuttling than by depth charge (as of Dec 43)

IIRC, whether a sub gets scuttled in port depends on the damage level. If damaged above 10 sys, then its ability to automatically escape when the port is captured ceases.

Yes, but the difference here is that the sub was under initial construction and had not yet initially appeared on the board.

Who said it was under construction? I though the poster said that it was scheduled to arrive at such and such a place on such and such a day - perhaps its just in transit - and the orders were changed before it arrived at such and such.
For those who may wonder such and such is a small town known for producing a fine maple widget...located just a few miles from the first star on the left.
