We have recieved orders to delay and inflict serious damage to the Russian army here at smolensk. Hq has sent us 100 mines to deploy in front of our lines. It is 1000 Oclock in the morning and aready we can hear the enemy begining to stir. It is hazy today but vis is still around 900 yards. Should give our gunners plenty of time to lay into them as they approach and before they get too close.

Our orders are to inflict as much damage as we can on there armor while taking out as many of there troops as we can. Should be like a turkey shoot today as we have some of the best gunners any wheres.

This was one werid battle from the very start. Did not see much of the enemy at all. Only saw 3 t-35tanks and they were takin out almost emediatly. Saw maybe a company of men appear and they too were shot to bits. We lost a total of 5 men and one afv. While they lost the 3 tanks plus 131 men. That was all there was to the battle. The Russians left the field after 30 minutes and the fight was over. One of the freakiest battle I have ever been in.

Guess we will have to wait for the next battle to really see any Russians. High command should really be pleased about today. I just hope they dont believe the Russians have given up. And send us into something we cant handle.

Strangely enough, this is like the real situation when a Ruskie recon or probing force would look for German defenses that needed bombarding.
