A Warning for Those With Amazon Accounts

Today I received an e-mail from something called "Amazon Online Services", wanting me to click a link to verify my account info. One sentence in the message even referred to the company as "amazone". Of course, I didn't respond, but I'm certain it was bogus and a phishing scam.
I know that this sort of stuff has become unfortunately commonplace, but it's the first time in a long while that an attempt has hit my e-mail box. Besides, my e-mail account did put the message in my "junk box."
I e-mailed Amazon.com and warned them of this scam, and I wanted to make you guys aware of it, too.

I have received similar ebay fake message into my trash folder. It looks very much like normal automated
ebay email - lots of gibberish with long links.

do yourselves a favour, register your network with opendns.org, update your DNS entries in your router to opendns IP's and then filter out phishing sites.
cheers

Serious companies will never send out an email to have you confirm your account online or ask for validation of credit card data or whatnot. Use some common sense guys [;)]

Which raises the question; why is everyone allowed to vote?

I have seen eBay, Paypal, also as phishing scams. The real catch is that they always start with "Dear eBay customer" or "Dear Paypal Account holder." All of these companies, when sending you a message, will use your actual name (because they have it attached to your email address).
Good job, KGErwin.
