How do the Lahman stats relate to anything ?

I still get confused on what they are trying to show, other then they don't show anything that makes sense

I kind of wonder that myself. I'm playing the '85 Dodgers and I'll come up against a guy with 90 "stuff" and I look at his real 1985 stats and he will have a 4+ ERA and a bad whip. I'm not sure how the ratings relate to real performance.

From your example the guy with the highest average .283 has the lowest contact 11.

One thing to note is its based on a window of the player's career, so that can influence it as well.

I sometimes wish we had a breakdown of how the ratings system actually works, BUT, in truth, I really DON'T want to know. The mystery of the future is a vital part of the game experience. Shaun says "a window on the player's career". For real players, that view CAN be distorted, depending on where he may end up. For example, Ted Williams in old Yankee Stadium may perform much differently than Ted at Fenway.

As Frozen Stiffer has often stated, the game is a simulator, NOT a replicator.
