BoB-BTR vs HPS Defending The Reich?

Hi,

How do these titles compare? I have no direct experience with either, but they seem similar.

Also, will BoB-BTR run at widescreen resolutions? I find these games very appealing, but did not buy Defending The Reich because of the fixed 1024x768 resolution. I hope that BoB-BTR offers flexible resolution settings (so it can run on a large desktop LCD as well as a laptop).

Thanks,

bink

I have a 22 inch LCD and it runs good, so not sure if that counts as a widescreen or not,

Defending the Reich, is a BC campaign, while EDtBTR is both day and night, and much more detailed in how the raids work out

kind of think it may be said DtR is more a beer and prezel game while EdtBTR is more HARD Core

Hard Sarge,

Thanks for your reply. Does this mean it runs at 1680x1050? I assume you have an LCD, and this is the most common native LCD resolution.

Thanks,

bink

No, due the the nature of the engine we had to run in 1024*768.

Given what we were working with we've made it waaay better, but it's still a fixed resolution.

Remember, I just tell everybody what I want, the way I want it, and then nobody pays any attention to me

then when they get something done, I can say, that, that is what I wanted in the first place

I bought HPS Defending the Reich and was really disappointed with it. An unbelievable number of aircraft crash on landing.

It's a shame because the actual screen interface etc looks pretty good, but i agree with Hard Sarge - the HPS game is lightwieght compared to the original (and hopefully soon to be released new version) of BTR.

I seem to remember (crash on landing) was a problem with the inital release of Bombing the Reich!

ahhh, hate with the forum gets screwy, well, will try again

in other games these are part of the OP losses, they are part of the game and in RL they were worse

I have read some RAF docs about how they planned there raids, and how at times, they would send some up, just for the idea that the LW was going to lose more planes landing, then the LW would shot down or find, so sometimes, you find raids that don't really make sense to us, but to them they did

In one turn alone i had sixteen aircraft from the same gruppe crash land when i played Defending the Reich.

I hear and agree with your statement Swift, but i think anyone would agree that sixteen was a bit excessive!

I did download the update to the game, but i have not tried playing it again. Perhaps i will give it another go to see if this problem has been looked at.

True, but at least you can play it before winter 2009
